As I was making breakfast this morning, my eyes fell upon the adorable chicken potholder a sweet friend made for me.   It always makes me smile, and I am so glad to have it hanging off a magnetic hook on the side of the fridge, where I can see it every time I cook.
My life is decorated with little treasures; gifts from the lovely people whom I am blessed to call friends.  Everyday, I put on an apron that a dear friend made just for me.  Out the windows, I have beloved wind chimes and this amazing thing: a sun catcher?  Wind spinner?

We have young red bud trees, as one dear friend was so kind and generous as to dig up volunteers from her yard and bring them to us.  I enjoy using the stationary that was gifted to me: so much more special than writing a note on scrap paper!
Our bath is more pleasant due to the scented oil diffuser I coveted but could not bring myself to indulge in.  I have kitchen towels that make me laugh.  Oh, those kitchen towels!   I love them.
But here is an absolute truth: my friends have given me something that is worth much, much more than 'things': their love and their friendship. Over the years, they have held me up, helped me out, listened to me prattle, held my hands through joy and sorrow.
I am rich beyond my wildest dreams, for I have friends.
